It’s someone’s birthday today!

Okay, let’s do this math together. If there are roughly 6.5 billion people on the planet (ignoring the fact for the moment that this hiving mass of humanity is just one fragment of the magnificent Son of God), and there are 365 days in a year, that means, uh, er, ah… (reaches for fancy HP calculator from finance days at college with tons more functions than he knows how to use) that each and every day of the year nearly 18 million people are celebrating their birthday. Maybe, just maybe, you’re one of them! Or maybe you know one of them. Or maybe you know someone who knows… you get the picture.

Now, what do we really want to celebrate on this particular day when our decision-maker decided to slip in the video of ‘our life’ and kick back to watch the specialness pyrotechnics set into motion? Well, we could celebrate remembering that we have no real birth date as such… After all, the Infinite can neither be born nor die, right? We always were, and always will be. Period. But that’s maybe getting a tad metaphysical for this page. Maybe we could just celebrate the fact that we’ve found our way to this remarkable spiritual philosophy that teaches us that every day can be our birthday, like, “I could see birthday-like joyfulness instead of this?” Or maybe we can just practice letting go today and knowing that we can cut ourselves some slack and just for one teensy little day not give ourselves quite such a hard time – over anything! Or at the very least, maybe we can invite the guy with the beard and sandals and peaceful eyes to raise a glass with us in honor of the Son of God we belong to…

Any reason is good enough to celebrate today. And I think you are a good reason.

Please feel that this page is celebrating you, in all your continued questioning and striving, your hopes for bringing this message further into your heart, the hope that your heart will welcome the message of God’s Love just a little more each day when it feels its soft approach.

So, maybe we have to wait a few days still for your birthday. But today we can still celebrate because it’s someone’s birthday, and that lucky, wonderful person is: Anne!!

So, this is just a warning shot across the bow. Well, it’s a very happy unbirthday for Debbi, Michele, Anne, Annie, Nina, Anil, Bernard, Jamie, Bonnie, Ruth-Anne, Leni, Pam, and all of us, and me too.

  2. Nina says:

and beautiful airborne daisies from the daisy-field close to my cottage are flown to all the happy unbirthdaychildren. Natti natti!

  3. Pam says:

    Hey an Un-Birthday party. Well makes sense to me, if death isn’t real then neither is birth. (-;

I musta been saving them up all this time!
    ๐Ÿ˜‰

  5. Pam says:

Quandary. According to a candle that DonnaD lit today at Nina’s blog it is Ruth-Anne’s birthday today. Sooo do we celebrate now though she might not make it or shall we wait till the end of the month and a better internet connection for her? Hey, Happy birthday either way.

  6. Nina says:

Pam and everyone: I have noted Ruth-Anne’s birthday on october 17th.

  7. Annie says:

Yes October 17th for Ruth Anne annnnnnnnnnnddddd Michele with one ‘l’. Must do something extra special!!!

Hellooooo DonnnnnnaDeeeee when is your Birthday? ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Pam says:

O.K. Does that mean Michele’s is on the 17th also or just in October sometime?

  9. Annie says:

Michele is on the exact same date!

  10. anil says:

    That’s a cool coinkydink ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. anil says:

  12. Nina says:

And it is DonnaD’s day today!!!! Congratulations! there will be a silent parade through the woods with torches, and we will be silently singing our hearts out for Donna Delicious, so that when we reach the marketplace we will be glowing from Love and Donna will be quite enveloped by it.Soked.(?)
I love you so very much, Donna!

  13. bernard says:

I only wish I knew what we could offer specially to Donna. Any ideas? Okay, we can start with a bouquet of flowers.

  14. bernard says:

So, big bunches of flowers for Donna, and her name up in lights at the top of the page. It’s a beginning… Lots of love, Donna. Thanks for being part of the Village.

  15. Lisi says:

Donna, Happy Birthday and all my love. Always thinking of you. A bunch of dandelions for you.

Hugs and more hugs and much, much love,

    Lisi

  16. Pam says:

Tying birthday ribbons on the branches of the great tree for DonnaD. Also some lanterns as it is a lovely evening out. Setting vases out on the tables for the flowers. With glass candle holders in the shape of Maple leaves coloured in reds and yellows. With apple and wild grape punch and wild plum tarts and a carrot cake with black walnuts and cream cheese frosting. Happy Birthday roses for you. —}–@ —}–@

  17. Annie says:

Pam did a terrific job tying those ribbons way up high for our tree loving DonnaD. Looks so pretty and then the latern lights will take over for a festive glow. The parade through the woods was a perfect meditation/celebration. I’m bringing more flowers as there couldn’t be too many and am helping myself to a big slice of carrot cake. I hope your new hip is one of the bestest gifts you got this past year and that this next year will be filled with many adventures. All my Best to you my sweet Canadian Friend.

    xoxoxo
    Annie

  18. katrina says:

Happy Birthday, sweet Donna D. Here is a potted Daphne for its aroma reminds me of you. This particular one will bloom all year inside, and then back outside for the spring and summer. May your days be filled with its wondrous scent, as our thoughts are still filled with your loving kindness. Thank you for watching over us, we can feel you there. Love, katrina

  19. bernard says:

Silly me, oh, silly me! I forgot to hit the ‘update’ button after I made the changes to this page. So none of you saw the photos I had added yesterday. Here (fiiinally) are Donna’s flowers (including a Daphne courtesy of Katrina) and a piece of delish carrot cake (the full cake was added but the photo just didn’t want to appear). Enjoy!

  20. DonnaD says:

Hello dear villagers!! I was told that there were some birthday wishes, flowers, cake and balloons for me in the Village and I was so touched. Thank you, thank you. How very thoughtful of all of you. It’s easy to see that your hearts and kindnesses have not been diluted in the least during the move down the mountain to the beautiful home that Mayor Bernard has provided for all of us. I’ve spent some time while here reading over some of the latest ponderings from everyone and I am very moved by the wisdom, kindness, down-to-earthiness and courage of those of you who have shared your thoughts and lives with all of us—those who visit and ponder and those of us who tip-toe in and out on occasion (ahem…). It is truly a gift to have a place of safety for these very moments and for the graciousness that is always extended without hesitation. And I have to add to Bernard that I am in awe of your ability to take your experiences and put words to paper in a way that both teaches (if we choose) and moves us (because of your honesty and humor).

Bernard, Katrina, Nina, Annie, Anne, Laura, Lisi, Pam, Ruth-Anne, Anil, Leni, Michele, Melody, Murrill, Zenbear, Winnie, Zafu, and all others who quietly visit on occasion—I send you my love and my warmest, warmest hugs. Gratefully, DonnaD. PS: Bernard, I think having a group discussion about a topic related to ACIM is an excellent idea. I would love to be involved in this. Hugs again… D.

  21. bernard says:

Hi, Donna! Look who came down the hill with the Mounties – so glad you came! And thanks for all the support. Yes, we try to muddle through this illusion together as a little community and find the Light that a strange misty shadow occasionally seems to cover. It’ll be so great having you come along for the ride and help us wipe away a little more of our confusion and mistiness.

  22. Annie says:

{{{DonnaD}}} your Birthday was a gift for us. Remembering and honoring you reminds us that we are not home until we are all together. Of course you are very easy to love and I believe that is why I like you around. Its already so challenging out there/in here that having someone around who is safe and kind is the best reminder that defenses are unnecessary. Enjoy your beautiful flowers everything looks and smells brighter in the Village today.

  23. Pam says:

    {{{{DonnaD}}}

  24. Michele says:

{{{{Donna D}}}}}} D for Darling, Divine, and Dauntless in your Path.

Sorry to have missed you on your exact day…haven’t been checking in frequently enough. Always your gracious loving and warm self, I saw you included me in your response to the festivites of celebrating your day I was unaware of till now.

You’ve always been special to me in the most right minded way. Sending you much love, gratitude for your ways of wisdom and kindness and hoping your birthday celebration will extend itself in all the ways most near and dear to your heart. xoxoxox Michele

  25. bernard says:

It’s Debbi’s birthday tomorrow, and I’m putting up her pictures today so we can remember the great times we had together with this wonderful woman.

Happy Birthday, my dear! We’re thinking sweetly of you. And here’s some tiramisu (okay, what’s left of it after it passed through the Tavern an hour ago) and some Champagne to enliven things a little. As much as it is against my religion to re-visit the past, I shall have to make a passing remark in honor of your amazing talents in developing community and true brotherliness: signed, the White Sock Monk.

  26. Pam says:

Hey Debbi, A hap, hap, hap happy birthday! A hap, hap, hap happy birthday to you! —}–@ —}–@ Thanks for being part of the crew that reminded me how to lighten up and have more fun. I was rather dreary serious when I showed up at the monastery. Hugs and luvs.

  27. Lisi says:

{{{{My dear Debbie}}}}, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! A bunch of flowers for you and all my love and gratefulness for being such a beautiful woman-Self. You lighted my path a lot of times and still lighting it.

    Hugs, hugs, and more hugs,

    Much love, Lisi

  28. bernard says:

I added Lisi’s gift of flowers to Debbi’s birthday wishes, but I don’t know what kind she likes. Here’s roses, petunias (my favorite this summer) and some wild dandelions (I think).

  29. Annie says:

First stop today is Birthday Central for Debbi!!!!! We waited all month for this day and it just couldn’t get here soon enough. The photo is beyond adorable. Your dress is like a little flower girl at a wedding. Your hair is beautiful and everything around you looks magical. Of course you would be standing up on your chair making an announcement…do you remember that moment and what you were saying????…Please do tell or just make up something we want to relive it with you.

My friend told me the other day to just look at everything through the eyes of a 4 year old and when I saw this was your fourth birthday celebration I had to laugh that the universe decided to send me a picture of what that is suppose to look like. Who better than you to show me what lightness, love and playfullness can be had while making our way back home. We all share the same wish deep down that the lights on our birthday cake will be unnecessary when we feel Gods light upon us. Todays celebration is all about witnessing for you what is waiting for me …Let’s eat cake!

  30. bernard says:

Nina would like to offer this video to Debbi on her birthday – the song is actually called “Debbi’s Waltz”. I think Nina is going to add the lyrics to the song which are very playful. Enjoy.

  31. Nina says:

Lyrics to Waltz For Debbi :
    In her own sweet world
    Populated by dolls and clowns
And a prince and a big purple bear
    Lives my favorite girl.
    Unaware of the worried frowns
That we weary grown-ups all wear.
    In the sun she dances
    To silent music-songs
    That are spun of gold
Somewhere in her own little head
Then one day all too soon
Sheโ€™ll grow up & sheโ€™ll leave her doll
And her prince & her silly old bear.
When she goes they will cry
    As they whisper good-bye
They will miss her I know
    but then so will I.

    Earrings made of shoestrings
    Barbie dolls with blue jeans
    Makin’ cross eyes
    Shakes me when I’m sleepin’
    Did you ever see
A kitten with an apron on
    Stop ‘n start his stereo
When she knows her brothers down the hall runnin’ ’round and skippin’ ’round
    Because she’s so,
    She’s so inspired
    Then she’s tired
    Please put me jammies on
    Daddy look at the rain
Can I go and play in the rain

    In the sun she dances
    To silent music-songs
    That are spun of gold
Somewhere in her own little head
Then one day all too soon
She’ll grow up & she’ll leave her doll
And her prince & her silly old bear
When she goes they will cry
    As they whisper good-bye
They will miss her I know
    But then so will I.

  32. Debbi says:

Thank you everyone for such lavish Birthday greetings and gifts!!! (Thank you B for the heads up!) It’s been fun and heartwarming to read your sentiments, stories, songs… and for sure when I was four I was standing up on my chair, no doubt making sure everyone was entertained. (Thanks Annie). My parents claim that I never stopped, not for an instant. My guess is that I was lecturing on how to have your cake and eat it too… or planning an after-party run through the back yard with scissors.

Thank you for the waltz Nina, what fun it was to listen to it. And for everyone’s sweet comments about the fun we’ve had together, remembering to laugh, cavorting.. troublemaking, sneaking around and otherwise tearing up a sacred place with our jokes and laughter. Those monks will never be the same. Nor will they ever forget us. I’m quite sure I will never see duck tape quite the same… or white socks, brownies, hard hats and grotto’s.

The flowers are just beautiful, thank you all…

    All My Love,
    Debbi
    xoxoxo

  33. katrina says:

Happy Birthday to the #1 nicest person on earth, and possibly in all of the heavens , too. When you first showed up in the Grotto, i believe on your back floating in the pool, and sipping a suspicious drink, flipping out smart remarks, i knew this was someone with a message for us. Then you went on to let me forgive every presumed hurt i thought my life had brought me.
    Happy Blessings to you,
    Happy Blessings to you,
Happy Birthday, and thank you, for being born this time so true.

All Love back to you, katrina

  34. Michele says:

I agree with you Katrina!!!!!Beautifully said. I mean every word too. I sent Debbi a I think the worldof you painted animated card and happily join in here with everyone’s big love circle of honoring you Debbi. xoxoxox Michele

  37. bernard says:

Debbi, thanks again for stopping by. Know that you’re always most welcome. And it’s also lovely if you remain with us as a quiet, silent presence. Hugs, B.

  38. Pam says:

    Yes, Debbi would love to hear some of your tales from the woods…errr…suburbs.(-;

  39. Lisi says:

Debbi, ditto Bernard No. 87. I felt joyful feeling your presence. Thanks.

    Much love,

    Lisi

  40. Annie says:

I wanted to be the first to wish you Michele, A Very Happy Birthday!!! How I love your upbeat, playful and always ready to love and honor way of communicating. You appreciate the beating pulse in all of us and move with a grace and refinement that makes me feel like all the world really is a bouffet. I can’t help but envision you as my ‘Emerald City’ buddy. Don’t hop into the balloon just yet we’ve got cake to eat!!

But first, everything is looking extra sparkly in the Village like there is a big show about to happen! Ohh look the cast of Glee is here to perform a montage of songs with the name Michele. Starting with the classic ‘Michele my Belle” ….Hugs and Kisses for a Beautiful Day!
